The Surprising Story of Milk and the Delights of Drinking Local
Slow Food Pittsburgh and friends invite you to taste and learn. You will learn the real story of milk. Or shall we say learn the story of REAL milk.
This is summer school--for all ages. First we meet the cows at Brunton Dairy in Aliquippa. Then we adjourn to a nearby Independence Park pavilion overlooking Raccoon Creek for a formal milk tasting, mini-lectures and lunch.
We will taste milks treated and brought to the table in very different ways from different kinds of cows-- national brand "factory" milk, regional dairies, and Western Pennsylvania's splendid local milks. Local goat milk too.
Younger kids can play while parents and older children taste an astonishing array of milks-- absorbing surprising-- sometimes very surprising-- news about the handling and marketing of our first food.
